Saturday, September 24, 2022 – Kamiti Prison has given its side of the story regarding the two Iranian terrorists who were released two weeks ago under unclear circumstances and flown out of the country without anyone noticing. This is after rumors emerged that President William Ruto ordered their release immediately after being sworn in as the 5th President of Kenya. Speaking on the issue, a senior Police Officer at Kamiti Maximum Prison confirmed that indeed Ahmad Abolfathi Mohammed and Sayed Mansour Mousavi were released from prison before their sentence lapsed. “Yes, the two were released from prison using the relevant provision of law. Their term was just about to end and they had shown themselves to be of good behaviors,” George Dianga, the prison’s communication officer stated. The two were arrested in 2013 for planning terrorist attacks on Israeli, American, British, and Saudi Arabian interests in Kenya in 2012.

Charity Ngilu said she would wait to see if Ruto appoints women to constitute half of his cabinet. Former Kitui governor Charity Ngilu is hopeful President William Ruto will make good on his promise of giving 50 percent of cabinet slots to women. The president who is out of the country on official duty is expected to embark on naming his cabinet once he lands back. Ngilu through a tweet exuded optimism that the head of state would not renege on the pledge made to women prior to the August 9 presidential vote. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cleared the air on the current government’s stand on the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC), rubbishing claims that it will be done away with. Speaking in Kisumu on Friday, the DP revealed that the task force currently being formed will be seeking views on how to enhance CBC to favour all sector players to ensure the holistic development of learners. “When that team is unveiled and will be going around the country, please don't just complain at home or in market centres…please turn up and present these people with your views on what you think should be done to improve CBC and the entire education system," Gachagua said.
